Bringing the JOY of Christmas to homes of the families.
It is a tradition that the Santa Clara Youth look forward to every Christmas since 2013. This year, we started weekly practices in November in anticipation for our annual house-to-house Christmas caroling from 11-23 December 2016.
Over those few nights we were invited into 19 homes including the Emmaus Community and the Missionaries of Charity. We piled into our cars with our guitars and piano in tow, bringing the joy of Christmas to those we met.
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined. – Isaiah 9:2” This was the theme for this period of Christmas caroling. The Lord called us to this not to perform but to spread the joy in anticipation for His birth. It was in singing the 5-7 Christmas songs and the sharing of a meal that we partook in love of Christ.
I can’t even begin to put into words here what a rewarding, absolutely wonderful feeling it is to go out and do this once a year, to see the joyful looks on the faces of the families, how grateful and touched they were. If your choir or youth group has never gone Christmas carolling from home to home, you absolutely must! It is a wonderful outreach to touch the lives of people, not knowing what they have gone through that year, being able to bring this JOY to their lives.
