What a year.
In 2014, CYM engaged with thousands of young people from schools, parishes and local communities. CYM gathered the young people both locally and nationally through youth festivals, rallies, Holy Hour, camps, retreats, concert with an international artist and many more.
CYM will bring these projects back and more in 2015, with bigger and superior events that is going to put Perth Youth Ministry on the map.
Who says that there is nothing exciting happening in Youth Ministry in Perth? You will be in awe on what is in store for all youth and young adults this 2015.
Catholic Youth Ministry Perth (CYM Perth) is the official agency supporting youth through spiritual formation, youth groups, community service activities and social events. In 2015 we are taking it up another level with new and exciting youth events and initiatives.
We want the youth and the young adults of Perth to have the freedom to express their faith, to be empowered and most importantly to grow stronger in their relationship with Jesus.
Get your calendars ready and here are the important dates for 2015:
Let’s start with the return of the Sand Sculpture Competition on the 7th of March at Scarborough Beach amphitheater. With its obvious absence in 2014, multiple teams are itching to have a crack at winning the coveted trophy and be the best in sand sculpting in 2015. Can Singles for Christ retain the crown? Let’s watch and see.
Our annual Young Adults Retreat has been moved to an earlier date to meet the demands in the Archdiocese. This year it will be held on the 1-3 of May, and still to be conducted at the beautiful and scenic Eagles Nest in Gidgegannup. The theme of the retreat will be aligned with the WYD Theme for 2015 which is “Blessed are the poor in heart, for they will see God.” (Mt 5:8)
In 2015, CYM in collaboration with numerous groups and movements from the Archdiocese will join forces to host the biggest Youth Conference in Perth since World Youth Day was hosted in Australia in 2008. PERTH Youth Conference will be held on the 10-12 of July. The caliber of speakers, musicians and presenters will rival those from international youth conferences. This is not just a Perth event, but all youth and young adults from Western Australia are invited. Watch this space for more exciting updates.
Annually, young adults from across Perth will dress up for a wonderful occasion held at beautiful venues, with great food and classy ambiance. This year the CYM Ball will be on the 8th of August. In 2015, the CYM Ball will be like no other. It’s going to make you remember the night for a very long time.
Towards the back end of the year, we will conduct the Stronger Teens Camp from the 2 – 4 October. The retreat is very high energy with a good balance of fun and spirituality. In 2014, we had one of our biggest camp, in 2015 we are hoping to take it up a notch and make this year the biggest and most fun camp.
December 2015, is a hectic month for youth ministry both locally and nationally. Firstly, CYM with thousands of young people will gather in the City of Churches, Adelaide from the 3-5 of December for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. It’s going to be huge. This year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better than the previous one.
This December 9-12, Embrace the Grace (ETG) will culminate the year that had been for youth ministry in Perth. This 5 days style conference has made an impact on many young people’s lives both personally and spiritually. With high caliber speakers from across Australia, a dynamic music ministry team and a fun leadership crew, ETG is set to once again make a big impression with the young people.
