Talk Topics

Our Ultimate Calling: Salvation

Amador Vargas

The world is thy ship; not thy home.

- St. Thérèse of Lisieux

We often find ourselves asking those big questions: “why am I here? What am I supposed to do with my life?” Jesus revealed to his apostles their calling to the kingdom of God (John 14:1-4), and the way is through Christ, who met us as Man. Our own bodies’ theology can reveal to us our call to salvation, and how we can better live relationship with God.

The Sacraments and Salvation

Dr. Paul Morrissey (Campion College)

The seven sacraments of the Church are great gifts from God that allow us to enter into relationship with Him, but why are they necessary? Dr. Paul Morrissey explores the sacraments and their relationship to salvation – our salvation – and invites us to draw closer to God and our heavenly home.

Masculinity & Femininity

Knights of the Southern Cross

and Sr. Rebecca Sampang

This session, participants divide into men and women’s groups, and each get to experience talks and activities tailored to them as men and women of faith; supported in brother- and sister-hood, and lead by inspiring people, each with a tale to tell.

Works of Mercy and Salvation

Dr. Paul Morrissey (Young Adults)

and Eliza Matthys (Teens)

We cannot reach the kingdom of heaven through faith alone, nor can we reach it through works alone; we need both. Following the idea of becoming dust of the earth, “He must increase, but I must decrease,” (John 3:30) we are called to perform corporal and spiritual works of mercy; relieving the suffering of others as far as possible – and always in line with God’s law.

What do we do when things don’t go to plan?

Derek Boylan

In today’s world, there can be so many things that delay or prevent people from following their vocation. What do we do when life doesn’t go as we imagined, or when we feel like we missed out on an opportunity to find our vocation?

I will live the present moment and fill it with love. - Cardinal Francois Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan

Vocations Panel

Symon & Michelle Smyth-Kirk + Fr. Mark Baumgarten (Young Adults), and Luke & Montana Bogoni + Sr. Rebecca Sampang (Teens)

To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek him, the greatest adventure; and to find him, the greatest human achievement.

- St. Augustine of Hippo

This is an opportunity to hear from these amazing people living out their vocations, and to ask any questions you may have about finding yours.

Dealing with Distractions

Paul Kelly

In our lives, there can be so many things that stray across our path that pull us away from our discernment and our relationship with God. When we stray from the path, it can be difficult to find our way back. Paul Kelly explores some of these distractions and offers wisdom as to how we can best deal with them, and surge forward with faith.

Would like to sponsor someone?

Every year there are a significant number of participants who would like to attend ETG but find it difficult to afford. As such, we require benefactors to sponsor these young people’s attendance. If you would like to sponsor (or part-sponsor) a young person, click on the link below.
