“Let Us Be Lights of Hope” – Embrace the Grace 2014 is Coming!

Embrace the Grace (ETG) youth conference is on again, and with less than three months to go, preparations are in full swing.

ETG is one of largest youth events in WA and has been running annually for more than 10 years, which has positively touched the lives of hundreds of young people.
Young people  aged 16-30 are invited to  spend five days in beautiful New Norcia, surrounded by other young Catholics, to hear engaging talks and join in discussion about the deep questions of life. These talks, as well as the sacraments and opportunities for prayer all combine to provide a platform for forming both faith and intellect. This is balanced with the fun aspects of great music, skits, a mini-Olympics and a dinner dance on the final night.

This year for the first time, Embrace the Grace is a joint venture between Respect Life Office and Catholic Youth Ministry, making for a bigger and better conference. This initiative has been instrumental in bringing together youth leaders from across the Perth diocese together to participant in the planning, with their first meeting kick starting the preparations a few weeks ago.

The theme for ETG 2014 is “Let Us Be Lights of Hope”, taken from Pope Francis’ World Youth Day 2014 Homily:

“Dear brothers and sisters, let us be lights of hope! Let us maintain a positive outlook on reality. Let us encourage the generosity which is typical of the young and help them to work actively in building a better world.”
– Pope Francis

We will be exploring this theme by looking to God as source of an enduring hope, providing the firm foundation to persevere in and sustain our faith through all things. This will also involve looking to the apparent obstacles to hope by examining the despair in society and current culture, and look to how we can be a voice and light of hope to the world in our own lives.

2013 Participants gave raving reviews of the conference:
“The ETG experience was amazing …. The highlights were the talks and getting to know young Catholics like myself.”

“I enjoyed the experience; I found the talks to be very interesting and valuable. The social aspect was the highlight for me, in particular the whole of Saturday, the olympics and dinner dance were amazing and so much fun!”

“Not only did it meet my expectations but it blew them out of the water. I loved every minute of ETG 2013 and I could not possibly pick out one favourite part.”
