The Australian Catholic Youth Festival will be the greatest national gathering of Catholic young people since World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney! It will be three action-packed days of engaging speakers listening spaces (… where YOU can have YOUR say about YOUR Church!), concerts, sensational interactive expos, prayer opportunities, learning opportunities, making new friends … and so much more! Organisers are expecting a turn-out of around 3000 young Australian Catholics
Will YOU be one of them???
What: ACYF is a national gathering of young people established by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. It exists to provide young people with opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus, to be empowered to be disciples in today’s world, and to encounter and celebrate the vitality of the Church in Australia today.
When: Thursday 5 – Saturday 7 December 2013.
Where: Melbourne, Victoria. Venues: Australian Catholic University (Fitzroy Campus); St Patrick’s Cathedral Precinct; Festival Hall (West Melbourne).
Who For: Anyone from school Year 9 (in 2013) to young adults aged 25 years.
*over 25’s must register as a Group Leader or Volunteer
Program: During the Festival, young people will have the opportunity to participate in a range of Workshops and Prayer Experiences, visit the Festival Exhibition and Market Spaces, engage in Outdoor Activities, and experience vibrant local Australian Catholic music. A special part of the Festival will be a series of Listening Spaces, where young people will be able to meet with Bishops and other special guests to engage in dialogue on a wide range of contemporary topics.
A central feature of the Festival will be the Plenary Sessions at Festival Hall. These will gather together all Festival participants for times of music, catechesis and more, exploring and ‘breaking open’ the Festival theme: “The Spirit of the Lord is Upon Me”. The first Plenary Session will kick-start the Festival on Thursday afternoon. Further Plenary Sessions will be held on the Friday and Saturday nights.
