On the 8th of June, Santa Clara youth group hosted an Australian Catholic Youth Festival fundraiser Soup Night in the parish hall. The funds raised will be used to subsidize a group of young parishioners who will be attending the largest Catholic youth event this Dec 8-10, at the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The soup night was attended by approximately 60 people, consisting of parishioners, friends and family. The night was filled with food, fun and live music entertainment by youth leader Christopher Ngu.
There were also raffle tickets for sale and multiple prizes to be won. The event raised $700 profit raised towards subsiding the young people. The parish community was supportive and had generously donated & made the soup for the event. There were eight selections of soup and it was an ‘all you can eat’ set up.
One of the attendees was overjoyed by the selection of soup. Nessya from Catholic Youth Ministry Perth’s favourite soup was the congee with mushroom, combined with the bread. Nessya said, “It was perfect for a cold night to enjoy a variety of homemade soups with excellent company and live music, I particularly enjoyed the congee made by a lovely lady from the parish.”
Youth leader and event organiser, Alwin Liew was ecstatic with how the event turned out. “The sense of community in the parish was truly felt that night. Many of the parishioners showed their support and encouragement towards the cause. Everyone enjoyed the evening,” said Alwin.
