Catholic Youth Ministry hosted their annual ball at Claremont Yacht Club on Saturday 19th July. This year’s theme “Exuberant Joy” was inspired by Pope Francis who reminds us of the importance of being joyful: “The Church is not a refuge for sad people, it is a house of joy!” This theme really came alive on the night.
“The CYM ball had great food, amazing dancing and was a fantastic way to meet young Perth Catholics” said Chris Blackford, who attended the ball.
Thanks to the help of a small army of volunteers, the room was decorated beautifully, accentuated by the joyful faces which filled the room. The ball was an excellent excuse to dress to the nines, and enjoy the “finer” things in life; but mostly, it was a chance to celebrate, youth, life, and faith surrounded by other young Catholics.
After a bit of mix-and-mingle time, guests sat down to a delicious buffet meal. With satisfied stomachs and a glass or few of wine, guests were ready to hit the dance floor. “I danced. And I liked it,” said Chris.
Guests were able to support CYM by taking their chance at winning a prize in the night’s raffle. First prize took home a picnic basket full of goodies, others won vouchers, chocolates, or bottles of wine; one lucky winner even ended up with a collector’s plush Snugglepot and Cuddlepie dolls, much to the disappointment of those who didn’t snag one of the winning tickets. Any disappointment was danced away as the party continued late into the evening.
With tired feet but grinning faces, guests headed off, eagerly anticipating the next CYM ball.
CYM would like to thank Claremont Yacht Club, Beatmixology, and the many volunteers who helped pull the ball together.
