Over 4 weeks in September 2020, Natalie Thomas led over 50 young adults through a deep and engaging look at Saint John Paul II’s writings on ‘Freedom, Love and Responsibility’ through Theology of the Body. Defining masculinity, femininity and having mature conversations around relationships, dating and marriage. This was a co-hosted event by the Center for Faith Enrichment (CFE) and Catholic Youth Ministry Perth (CYM).
Young people from around the Archdiocese were able to attend sessions in person, and also online via zoom. The sessions covered defining true intimacy (or in-to-me-see), how our faith helps deepen our relationships and that the Church’s teachings aim to strengthen relationships and marriage to be long-lasting.
Natalie ended the sessions with a dynamic group quiz show to help refresh the content of the four sessions with the participants. The winning team walked away with a great little prize pack at the end of the night.
Recommended resources from the sessions include: ‘Love and Responsibility’ by Karol Wojtyla, and ‘Men, Women and the mystery of love’ by Edward Sri. Some great books to add to your summer reading lists.
The CFE and CYM are continuing to run a joint course in November this year. These courses give a chance for young adults to have a taste of what ongoing adult faith formation sessions are available for them through CFE.
The next course will be led by Joe Tedesco on ‘Living a good life: An introduction to the Moral Virtues’. Commencing Wednesday 11th November – 2nd December at 7:30-8:30 pm. See cym.com.au or cfe.org.au for more information and to register for the upcoming course.
