Living the Faith Series is a collection of stories of faith from the youth of the Archdiocese of Perth.
Hi I’m Anne, I am 19 years old and currently studying a Bachelor of Education at the University of Notre Dame.
Prior to ACYF, I had a longing to deepen my relationship with Christ. This was made possible through ACYF, which was an unforgettable experience. The festival allowed me to immerse myself in the presence of the Lord and connect with Christ among other fellow Catholic youths. Although we all came from different backgrounds and we were all on a different spiritual journey, it was an immense and overwhelming feeling when we all came together as one to celebrate our faith.
My memories at ACYF
ACYF was an extraordinary event as there were so many Australian Catholic youths that you wouldn’t often see or interact with on a daily basis. In today’s world, being a Catholic is sometimes difficult as our faith can be challenged by what society perceives as the norm. ACYF gave me the opportunity to recognise the importance of my faith and having friends who can help me grow in my spiritual journey with Christ.
I look back on my memories at ACYF and I remember it as an experience that has helped me to feel more empowered as a Catholic youth; to celebrate my faith freely, to be kind, compassionate, humble and to be of service to others through altruistic love.
More empowered as a Catholic youth
An event like ACYF is one that will always be remembered as empowering, and it is an event that should be experienced by all Catholic youths at least once in their life, as beautiful memories will be made and there’s the possibility of finding life-long friendships with people who share a similar faith and love for Christ.
