Official Launch of Hilton Youth Group a Big Success

My name is Nakkitta Fortune, youth leader at OLMC Youth United in Hilton. On Saturday the 6th of September, we had our official launch mass for our youth group. I was responsible for coordinating the Mass and had full support of the parish youth community.

We organised for the youth to run the Mass with Father Paul as our main celebrant and also providing guidance. We had a new banner designed with our official youth logo, and hung it over the altar during mass to accompany the beautifully decorated Church in yellow orchids and gold bows on the pews.

The youth provided the music for the mass which had an upbeat feel, inspired from the popular movie, ‘Sister Act’. The mass readings, collection, offertory plus the beautiful liturgical dance were all prepared by the youth. The mass was a great success with many attending from around Hilton and surrounding suburbs.

After mass, there was a free BBQ, courtesy of the young people of the Parish. All were invited to come, and it was a great opportunity to get together and encouraged more youth to attend.

As reflected in the Mass by Father Paul, “Building a meaningful Comm

unity project for our younger generation requires commitment and resolving differences. As a youth group, together we find our faith in God and together as a community we begin to establish a friendly and reliable group of friends.”

Upcoming events include: a “Camp-Out and Movie Night” at OLMC School Hall and the end of the year Christmas Party.

Please feel free to come along. For more information please contact Letitia Fortune –
