In May, Catholic Youth Ministry ran three Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) information evening across the Archdiocese. The evening were conducted in 3 locations, North – St Luke Woodvale on the 13th Monday, Central – St Mary Cathedral on the 19th Sunday and South – St Emilie Canning Vale on the 21st May, Tuesday. The information evenings were for everyone who wants to know more about ACYF.
The event was well attended by young people, parents, teachers, youth leaders, youth ambassadors and parishioners. During the evening, key speakers of ACYF were revealed with two international speakers coming from the United States of American, Katie Prejean & Joe Melendrez. Katie, a speaker, educator & author will be sharing the joy of the gospel with a unique blend of humour & storytelling to engage audiences of all ages. Joe Melendrez is a dynamic Catholic rap artist who dedicate his talents to animate and share the Good News with young people. Grace Forrest, the founder of Walk Free Foundation, is a local WA speaker who will be sharing about her passion for social justice and encouraging young people to do the same.
The information evening was well attended by nearly 40 parishes, school and community representative who were keen to get young people and their parishes excited about the event.
The registration of ACYF is currently open and group registration will close on the 12 of September, so groups are advised to start planning early. During the evening, attendees were given tips about group registration and resources were provided to help parishes, schools & movements in promoting the event. At the end of the event, everyone was encouraged to join the mission of the Church in getting as many young people to this life changing event as possible.
