Today marks the death anniversary of St John Paul II. An amazing man of God and a true inspiration for many young people today.
John Paul died on April 2, 2005, at age 84, in the Apostolic Palace next to the square where Pope Francis spoke. John Paul became the Catholic Church’s first non-Italian pope since the 15th century when he was elected in 1978. He served until 2005, the second longest pontificate in history.
St John Paul II was the man behind World Youth Day. He was the young people’s pope during his time of service for the Church.
The next World Youth Day in 2016 will be in Krakow, Poland a very special place for St John Paul II.
