The 20th of September saw the Youth Leaders of Sacred Heart Parish Thornlie host a Soccer Tournament as a fundraiser, with proceeds going to youth attending World Youth Day 2016 in Poland. The tournament consisted of mixed teams from Sacred Heart and other surrounding Parishes such as Bayswater and Bentley.
The two divisions involved a kid’s age group ranging from 6-13 years old, and a professional division from 14 years onwards. The day began after the weekly Sunday 10 am Mass. Supporters included the Parish Priest Monsignor Tim Corcoran, Assistant Parish Priest Thomas Zureich, multiple parishioners and those from the community.
There were many delicious treats that ranged from brownies, various flavors of cupcakes, fudge, and chocolates, with a Sausage Sizzle and drinks for lunch, and mini activities such as guess the jellybeans in the jar and a raffle. The weather was perfect with the sun gracing us with its presence.
Overall the day was fun filled and a huge success! The total profit made was $508, and congratulations to the winning teams who were awarded with medals, and runner up teams who were presented with vouchers to Subway and McDonalds.
On behalf of all Sacred Heart Youth Leaders we would like to thank all those who donated their time, talents, and resources in any way possible to make the day as successful as it was! God Bless!
