Young People United by Nakkitta Fortune

by Nakkitta Fortune – Youth Leader at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish

Hello everyone. My name is Nakkitta Fortune.  I am a Youth Leader at OLMC Youth United. Our youth group begun towards the end of last year.  This year has gone off with a bang, with 25 children attending! It’s been quite exciting!  We’ve recently had our Harmony Day celebration, Careers Day, Team Building, with many other fun days.  We’ve even had some water fun activities.

We had the pleasure of having a few guest speakers discuss their culture, dressed up in their Cultural clothing. We enjoyed some delicious cultural foods and afterwards we an epic water bomb fight.

On Careers Day we were inspired by some very informative talks and speakers on their careers and other available careers to choose from.  One of our youth members who is currently sitting his entrance exams into Medicine gave some insight of what to expect if we choose to go into Medicine at University.

Currently we are preparing for our upcoming Youth Mass to be held early September. We are learning some great songs/hymns and are in the process of making our very own Youth Banner. We invite everyone to come along and join in the celebration of our youth and parish community. All are invited to share a barbeque straight after the Mass.

OLMC Youth United invites anyone aged ten years and over to come and join us for our next meeting, on the 11th of July at 6.30-8pm.
